Rod Esam
Rod Esam was born in Broken Hill and spent many years in the
Outback "Corner Country" where SA, NSW & Qld meet, working with
cattle, horses and machinery where camp fires, guitars and singing were always
part of Rod's lifestyle. Rod then left the Outback to pursue his
Earthmoving business on the Mid North Coast of NSW and over the last few years
has worked consistently in the Country Music Industry travelling interstate
performing and winning many singing and songwriting awards, including the
prestigious QLD Champion of Champion Male
Vocal for 2002.
Rod's first single, "Back Outback", his Tribute to
Year of the Outback, was released onto NFS 75 Country Singles Compilation Album
in Oct. 2002. Within its first 2 weeks of airplay, the single made it onto
the World Wide Major and Independent Mainstream charts. it was receiving
consistent Nation Airplay, wona TSA songwriting award, has been nominated for a
Golden Guitar for Heritage song of the year, and suddenly the Industry was
talking about Rod Esam. Here were new, yet somewhat traditional lyrics sung
with dynamic, gusty, masculine vocals, packaged with a fresh new country sound.
"Earthmover"
Rod's outstanding new 12 track album,
with 10 original songs so-written by Rod and his wife Eve, is an album about
Australian Life experiences and contains notable songs like the title track,
Coastal Cowboys and Daddy Lets Play, a duet with Donella Plane. The album
and Rod's performances provide excellent entertainment for everyone. Rod
is touring Australia in 2003 to promote "Earthmover", the Album.
"Earthmover" includes the magical input of multi
award winner Benjy Pocock (Qld's Wild Turkey Band) on rhythm and lead
Guitar. Soni Kildey plays Bass with Juzzie Smith the Harmonica Man
himself, on Harmonica and Didgeribone. Hugh Cowley plays Fiddle, multiple
Moe award winner Shelly White plays Keyboards and the legendary Les Woodford
plays drums and also produced the Album. Recorded at Riversound Studios,
the modern high tech production is second to none.
Rod's Country Music career escalated when he took The Rovers
and Drovers Australiana Show to the 2002 Olympics, performing for the world
through the International media at the Sydney Media Centre with the Department
of Foreign Affairs and Trade. As Ambassadors of the Australian Outback and
Bush Culture, the show promotes Australia's Agricultural and Geographical
resources through their songs, film footage and performances. The Rovers
and Drovers perform on International Cruise Ships, at Special Events, Festivals,
and Schools, as R&D have been accredited by the NSW and QLD Departments of
Education.
