G'day from W.A!
I hope that this update finds you all well and happy … winter here
in Western Australia has been fraught with ‘flu and colds for my
family but fortunately they are not the sort of bugs that can be
transmitted via e-mail!
Wanted to write to friends who have been making noises about coming
down to see us at the Kardy that our three and a half year residency
is coming to an end this Saturday July 28.
Brad and I have enjoyed our time there immensely and would sincerely
like to thank Con, George and the staff for the pleasure – it has
been a great experience!
That’s not to say we won’t be back at the Kardinya soon … we are
already booked for September 29 and have been invited back for a
couple of spots in October, which I am afraid we are unable to do.
Reason being? I am heading back to the USA on October 1st until
early November.
A radio promotion tour in support of my US radio release; Wicked
Game is being organized for me by Nashville based, Airplay
Specialists.
The track is doing very well there … in the first month there have
been over 64 US stations (that I am aware of) playing it - some as
many as 37 spins a week! Fingers crossed that the response to it
will be exponential.
While in Nashville I will be taking part in a NSAI songwriting
workshop with the masters and look forward to that very much.
Now add a several gigs to the trip (some to be confirmed … others
confirmed but the actual dates to be tidied up) and I suspect that I
will have little time to be homesick!
As the gig dates become ‘concrete’ and more information falls into
place, I will let you know with an updated gig guide.
In other news, we finished the video for Wicked Game just over a
week ago. The clip was directed by Derek Hobbs, who is known around
Perth for filming Nitenews, documentaries and the recent independent
film, The Bouncer starring John Waters.
For those interested in a special pre-view of it, a link to the
webcast version is posted here for you …. just CLICK HERE
I have had quite a few wide-ranging comments about and reactions to
the clip from industry folk … so feel free to let me know what you
think.
Given the positive interest the track has received in the US, I have
decided to release Wicked Game in Australia as well. It will be out
to radio here on August 13, so if you feel inclined, do contact your
local country music station and request it!
And so … In support of the new release, I head over to Sydney for a
few shows again in September. I look forward to that trip very much
…
With the help of RUM Entertainment, the new album, ONCE AGAIN
continues to get some wonderful attention through radio and print
media and so my sincerest thanks go to those who have been
supporting the album and the first single from it; Mere Male which
is still climbing the Top 100 Country Hits Charts.
Please know that I am finding it increasingly difficult to get
around personally and thank all of you for your support but I would
like to express my sincerest appreciation to everyone as always.
That’s my update for now and so until next time, stay well, be happy
and make (or listen to) great music!
Warmest wishes from

CONNIE HITTING THE RIGHT NOTES
Connie Kis Andersen’s album ONCE AGAIN (produced by Tom Pick,
16 time US Grammy winner), has again been receiving positive reviews
across the country and from the US.
This has reinforced Connie’s decision to release a single on CDX in
America. The sampler has just been released to radio and Connie’s
track is on CDX Volume 424 Track 19, and has already sparked quite an
interest – many wanting more from our home-grown Connie.
Connie still continues to make an impact on country radio in Australia
with her first single MERE MALE (NFS #113 Track 5).
Radio support has been achieved through stations such as:
Local FM / 4VL 918 / Radio Goolarri / 2MCR / 97.1FM Whittlesea /
2UUUFM / MY105 Mackay / Radio 87.5 FM / 2YOUFM / Radio Eastern FM /
Monaro FM / 2NURFM / CBAA – Good Morning Country / Curtin FM / Yass FM
/ 3HOTFM / Hot Country Dalby-Emerald-Charleville / 98.5FM Shepparton

opportunities arising from her release, but in the meantime, make sure
you catch a show:

G'day from Western Australia ....
Well I can't believe how the months have flown by!
Apart from my regular residency and gigs here in WA, I continue to be
busy with the promotion of my current Australian single; Mere Male out
on NfS 113 and of course, my new album; ONCE AGAIN.
The single has just made it into the top 100 country hits chart and
sits at #83 after just 2 weeks. Another BIG THANK YOU to the Aussie
radio presenters who are playing it, and to country music enthusiasts
who are requesting it!
Other great news includes ONCE AGAIN being featured this month in the
Doubleday Book and Music club Country Direct Catalogue. For anyone
interested in an 'aural taste', the album is now up on CD Baby where
you can preview two minute excerpts from each track ... all you need
do is click on the following link...
http://cdbaby.com/cd/conniekisa2 .
The album is of course also available in Australia in any good
independent record store since it is distributed through One Stop
Entertainment.
More exciting news includes the filming of two video clips in support
of releases here and in the US. Filming is complete and editing has
begun ... Derek Hobbs who directed the independent movie The Bouncer,
starring John Waters, has been behind the camera and is now in the
editing room ... raw footage is looking good and I am looking forward
to the final outcome!
Last but not least, we are gearing up for another radio release in the
States. The track everyone there is keen on is my version of Chris
Isaak's Wicked Game. The single goes out on CDX 424 (NfS equivalent in
the USA) on June 11. Its a thrill to be accepted on CDX and to know
your music is being played in the US ...
Well ... that's my update for this month so until next time, stay
well, be happy and make great music!

Hello friends in music
Just a brief update on my activities in Nashville...
It has been a busy time for me here ... two days after my
arrival, I was
singing backing vocals on the same recording session as Louis Nunley
and Curtis
Young from the legendary Jordanaires - it was an honour to be part of
it and an
awesome experience to see and hear them at work with their friend Alan
Hensen,
(often referred to as the 'fifth' Jordanaire). We were singing backing
vocals
for the multi Grammy artist, Jimmy Sturr.
While here, I have been doing some edits in the studio and putting the
finishing touches on my new Album, due out in Australia in April.
I have also secured another US release from my current album; Gone
Wishin'. 'Wicked Game' the Chris Isaak track that I have covered will
be going
to national radio here on March 19.
I am in with the majors again ... the selection process to get onto
CDX (the
NfS equivalent here) is tough with foreign independents usually the
last to be
selected, so I feel grateful and blessed for being accepted.
So far I have played at the French Quarters Cafe, The Commodore Sports
Bar and
Grill, The Nashville Palace and the renowned Tootsies where I have an
open
invitation to return anytime to perform again.
I am the guest artist at Cowboy Church here and will be performing at
the
service held on Sunday Morning (10.00am Nashville time) on February 4
at the
texas Troupadoure Theatre. Joanne Cash is one of the hosts with her
husband;
Dr Harry Yates who is the pastor.
Then that same evening, I am a guest artist at the famous Bluebird
Cafe for a
writers' night. The Nashville City Paper is running a story this
Thursday
about it all.
I have also received invitations to front a band for a show in Alabama
while
here, but I am not sure I can fit it all in. That's a 'we'll see'
project -
but something I certainly would love to be able to do.
On the home front, I found out last week that I am a finalist in the
'Best
Country Music Act' in the industry voted section for the WAMI awards,
so I
guess you could say that it has been a great start to the year.
I return home mid February to open the Boyup Brook Festival, which I
am looking
forward to as well. It should be a wonderful festival with the line up
that
has been advertised.
So, until next time ...
Many warm wishes from
Connie Kis

The Mildura Country Music Festival was a wonderful experience for me
again this year as was my trip to Nashville.
Apart from the many spotlights I had the privilege of performing
during the Mildura Festival, I also got to perform in the US at the
Nashville Palace, live to air on the Grinder’s Switch Country Hour
(Minnie Pearl’s home town) and a guest spot during the Horseshoe Bend
Festival in Clifton TN.
The recording sessions went very well too, but more about that closer
to the release date …
Finally, my US contacts tell me that Kiss My Cheek is getting good
airplay in Providence RI, a major country music market and it is
gaining momentum. A great sign!
So until next time …

Connie Kis Andersen: Kiss My Cheek (NfS 103) enters
Australian Top 30
It was only a little over 18 months ago that the Country Music
scene first heard about singer/songwriter, Connie Kis
Andersen.
Andersen, well seasoned as a performer and known within the Perth
music scene for her involvement at industry level, released her first
country radio single It’s Too Late nationally
through NFS 93, in September 2004.
This track from her debut E.P., Keeping It Simple,
was a solid country number, strong enough for most country radio
presenters to put on to medium/light rotation – quite an achievement
since at that time, Andersen had no profile as a recording artist in
the Eastern States.
All subsequent releases have held their own, growing in attention and
momentum in terms of radio airplay, culminating this week with the
entry of her latest single; Kiss My Cheek
(released through NfS 103) into the official Australian Countrytracks
Top 30 at # 29.
Another track; I’ll Get Back About That,
(released on NfS 96) was picked up and made available nationally in
April 06 on Gone Country Dance Hits 106 with the instructions for a
new dance choreographed especially for it.
Gone Wishin’ the title track from her current
album and also released in the US November 2005, is gaining positive
attention. Comments like, “The track is going extremely well” from
Radio MDs such as Doug Wilson of WANB (Waynesburg, Pennsylvania),
typifies the type of positive reception the song is receiving in the
US.
Fast forward 18 months and we can look back to see just a few
extraordinary highlights for Andersen. They include;
· Winning the Best Western Australian Female Country Vocalist 2006.
· The recording of a full length album, Gone Wishin’
in Nashville during September 2005. The album has since been picked up
by Doubleday Book and Music Clubs and is featured in their catalogue
of April 2006.
· Performances at Tamworth and Mildura Country Music Festivals, the
Australian Festival in Nashville and of course, the WAMIs in her home
state of WA.
These are all compelling indicators that this talented artist is worth
some close attention when she visits Sydney late June 2006 to perform.
Details of gig dates will soon be confirmed.

Get Back About That" will be out on NfS #96 in May.
Bio on Connie Kis Andersen.
A professional singer, songwriter and musician since 1983, Connie Kis
Andersen was honoured to be the support act for Don McLean at the
Burswood Theatre on his recent 2004 tour to Perth.
At the young age of eight, she began learning the banjo-mandolin and
by the time she was eleven years old, Connie Kis was already
performing at local Town Hall concerts and on guest spots in the Slim
Dusty Travelling Show when it came to her hometown of Bourke N.S.W.
With a degree from University of New South Wales and two years of
working in Special Education in Sydney, she re-located to teach in
Perth, Western Australia and began pursuing a part-time profession in
her first love - music, performing as the lead singer in several
bands, trios and duos, the most current of which are pop cover duo,
Kis 'n Tel and acoustic original country duo, a.k.a.Kis and country
band, The Coatailers.
During that earlier period she also recorded her own material in
Jakarta and performed it on Asian TV for the
English Hour show. Her music was subsequently licensed to the
station's label for use with Indonesia's #1 performing artist.
By 1998, her focus had turned to a full-time career in music and since
then, Connie Kis:
* Has established through her business Kismana Music, a co-operative
of independent artists with music for promotion and sale through the
Internet, namely the Kismana Ko-Op.
* Served time as Board member, Vice President and President of the
West Australian Music Industry Association (WAM) 1999 - 2001

Review Written By Smoky Sheldrick ACMLA
Connie Kis Andersen "Keeping It Simple"
Connie has a very unique sound, quiet pleasant to listen to. Each of
the five tracks here are potential chart toppers, especially track (5)
"Lets Keep It Simple" a duet between Connie and Gary Buck from America
who also co-produced this album.
Connie has dedicated this duet album to the memory of Gary Buck who
passed away in 2003. Other standouts for me are track (3) "You Stole
My Heart" and track (4) "It's Too Late" the other two are not far
behind.
Great artwork, musicians, vocals, in fact the whole package is a
winner. Don't miss this one! Through Kismana Music CD-CK A02 and

Andersen is "Keeping It Simple"
A professional singer, songwriter and musician
since 1983, Connie Kis Andersen was honoured to be the support act for
Don

At the young age of eight, she began learning the banjo-mandolin and
by the time she was eleven years old, Connie Kis was already

N.S.W.
An avid songwriter and the lead singer with a number of bands and
duos, the most recent of which is Kis'n Tel and her current 4 piece
band; The Coatailers', Connie Kis sings and plays acoustic rhythm
guitar and percussion, wowing her audiences with unforgettable
performances.
She recently released her debut E.P., Keeping it Simple, a
transatlantic blend of country music influences recorded in Nashville
and Western Australia.
This long distance (and sometimes not so simple) recording venture,
supported by the WA government through
ArtsWA.
-
Keeping It Simple is dedicated to Gary's memory.
The recording project was truly an international undertaking
given that all songs were written and performed by Danish born
Australian, Connie Kis and the recording was produced by renowned
Canadian recording artist and producer
Gary Buck. To add to that International mix, it was engineered
by American Tom Pick, a 14 time Grammy Award winner.
The backing tracks were recorded in Nashville by
some of Country Music's finest session musicians. Vocals were dubbed
and all tracks mixed at Northbridge Sound Studios in Western Australia
by Perth's acclaimed engineer, John Villani.
Goldust Productions Nashville, mastered the E.P.
Track 5, Let's Keep It Simple, a duet with Gary Buck is one of his
last
known recordings. Sadly, he passed away before the completion of
the project.
