- Donna Boyd to Guest Perform at TIARAs
In a late program change the very talented and beautiful Donna
Boyd will perform at this year’s gala anniversary showcase
replacing Tania Kernaghan.

Donna will join Graeme Connors and Wayne Horsburgh as guest
artists at the independent awards recognition event.

Graeme Connors is universally acknowledged as one of Australia’s
finest and most distinctive songwriters. His new album The Moment
is a perceptive exploration of the human heart in all its beauty,
depth and frailty. Recorded in Nashville it is an inspiring and
exquisite acoustic recording that’s been described as his most
personal work so far.
In a remarkable journey and one that began in 1974 as the latest
hot new ‘discovery’ when Graeme toured as the support act for Kris
Kristofferson. The legendary American singer/songwriter was so
impressed with Graeme that he produced his debut album And When
Morning Comes.
Graeme’s incredible 12 Golden Guitars are only the tip of the
iceberg. He’s also picked up two APRA song-writing awards, an ARIA
Award for The Road Less Travelled in 1997, two PPCA Awards for the
most played country artist on Australian radio, two American Song
Festival Awards, two MO Awards for live performance, and 12
Tamworth Songwriters’ Association Awards, including the
prestigious Song-maker accolade for his overall contribution to
Australian song-writing.
One of his first albums North has gone platinum, and both The Road
Less Travelled and The Best…’Til Now are well past gold status. In
2002 to mark his standing in Australian Country Music when he was
invited by the Australia Day Council to be Tamworth’s Australia
Day Ambassador.
Branson USA based International Country Entertainer and 2004 MO
Award nominee Wayne Horsburg returns home to Australia for one of
two appearances in Country Music Capital in January.
Wayne has appeared throughout the United States at the Great
American Music Festival in Silver Dollar City for many years,
since 1999 at many County Fairs in Wisconsin backed by The Music
Connection polka band and at the Hodag Country Festival in
Rhinelander Wisconsin.
In July 2002 he appeared with Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kershaw and
joined country acts Toby Keith Neal McCoy Alabama The Wilkinsons
and Leroy Van Dyke also appearing at the Festival over the
weekend.
He first appeared at Hodag which attracts an estimated crowd of
40,000 people back in 1997 sharing the stage with internationally
renowned performers like Emmylou Harris, The Oak Ridge Boys,
Freddy Fender and Ricky Van Shelton. Recognising his talent and
popularity the organisers booked him to return seven more times!
In 2004 Wayne who already holds 3 MO
Awards for Male Vocal and 1 for Country Entertainer of the Year
was nominee in the prestigious Australian Show Business Ambassador
Of The Year category alongside Barry Humphries/Dame Edna, Hugh
Jackman, Kylie Minogue, James Morrison and Keith Urban.
In April this year he returned to Silver
Dollar City for the International World-Fest where he was backed
by a Czech Republic Orchestra.
It’s three years since 2003 TIARA Female Vocal Of The Year Donna
Boyd heralded the changes in her career and she says 2006 feels
the same.
2006 sees award-winning singer & international touring artist
Donna Boyd in a new phase of her career working with a new
producer - David Carter of Carter & Carter Australia’s most
successful Country Music Duo and writing and/or co-writing the
songs on her new project.
Riding high on the chart success of her last single the Top 5 hit
A Good Day Donna released the title track from her new album
Luckiest Girl Alive last month with an expected album launch in
Tamworth in January.
Born in Sydney Donna made a name for herself on the Sydney cabaret
circuit and then at a young age she left Australia to travel
overseas headlining shows in London New York Orlando Miami and Las
Vegas.
Eventually she wound up in Nashville Tennessee where her passion
for country music was awakened and a new dream was born. When she
returned home to Australia Donna began to compose songs both solo
and in collaboration with other fine writers such as Michael Carr
and to source new material from various writers for inclusion on
her debut CD.
In 2000 she released her first country music EP and received a
TIARA nomination for Best Female Vocal. In 2002 she teamed up with
guitarist Stuart French of the Feral Swing Katz to produce her
album All Roads and by January 2003 she was awarded the highly
recognised TIARA Best Female Independent Vocalist.
While several singles from the album rode high on the Australian
airplay charts even more success was just around the corner. While
on stage in Sydney at the Galston Country Music Festival Donna’s
performance caught the attention of the festival patron legendary
singer Frank Ifield. Donna won his coveted International Spur
Award which ensured that her recordings would be heard all over
the U.K. and Europe. After reaching number two on the UK airplay
chart she embarked on a tour of the United Kingdom in 2004 - 42
dates in 61 days - arguably the largest tour of the UK that year
by a visiting Australian Independent artist!
In 2005 Donna tried her hand as producer for the first time
co-producing an album of songs: I’ve Got My Standards Vol.1 with
Bob Howe which she recorded live in the studio with a 7-piece
band. This collection of songs attracted rave reviews and 2
Finalist nominations at the TIARAs for Best Female Vocal and Vocal
Collaboration of the Year. Both songs from the new CD Single were
finalists in the Australian Songwriter Association Awards coming
in at 4th & 5th places. The first single released A Good Day hit
the Country Tracks Top 30, The Music Network Country Hot 30 Chart
and the music video has hit the Country Music Channel Top 30 as
well!
A Good Day and Luckiest Girl Alive are receiving great responses
as bright happy radio-friendly songs and an enticing example of
Donna’s fresh new sound.
