- The
Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival last weekend was a wonderful
time for all. As you may know, Dorrigo is the home of the Sommers Family. The Festival is under the auspices of the Arts Council of the
Dorrigo Inc. and Jack Sommers is the current Festival Director.
It is a beautiful plateau, and everyone enjoyed being in the area and
sightseeing as well.
The Festival had a wide range of music with ongoing concerts by
many different Folk, Bluegrass and Bush bands, including:
- Jigzag
- Us Not Them
- Wheelers and Dealers
- Gypsy Hot Club
- Mighty Fine String Band
- Sommers Family Band
- Dogwater
- Evan Matheson
- Chris Cook and Friends (Hillbilly Lovechild)
- Spot the Dog
- Andrew Clermont and the Lawnmowers (with Dave Helens)
- KaOZ Klezmer
- Dorrigo Community Choir and a Poetry Competition.
- There were also many workshops, lots of jamming, and enough food
stalls to keep people well nourished.
There were a few events off the site, but the Festival was set in
the showgrounds, where there was comfortable camping.
