Thanks to all those that drove many, many miles over the
last couple of weeks to see Double Crossed play, especially
those that made it all the way to Young.  Other recent gigs
have included Bungendore, Parkes, Dubbo, etc. We wish it
was possible to get "frequent driver miles" on the XX mobile
with all the travelling we are doing at the moment.
The Dubbo gig with James Blundell was a corker, he put on
a great acoustic show and then got up with us for a number
of songs including "way out west", "this road" and a couple
of classics where cranked away on the harp. His red crushed
velvet pants were the hit of the night according to the ladies.
Young was going off right from the beginning and ended
with the staff locking the doors after closing and kicking on
with a few tunes and too many bourbons. Two band
members (who shall remain nameless) discovered drinking
bourbon followed up by "jelly bean" concoctions made by
the staff at the Australian leads to conversations like "I love
you mate","no mate.. I love you","no mate…I REALLY love
you", " No mate…."etc. It got ugly.
Parkes took a while to warm up but finished with a bang
with a bunch of Sydney-siders sliding in late to join the
locals on the dance floor. Dave got everyone going by
shouting a jug for the table that sang loudest and after that
we couldn’t keep them quiet. Needless to say it was the
crowd that were drinking that night and not the band who
were still in recovery.
Spring has sprung and we’re hotting up so drop out and see
us as we lead up to Tamworth.

James Blundell and Double Crossed, 15th August.

Double Crossed had a great gig with James Blundell last friday at the
Macquarie Inn Dubbo.  James opened with an acoustic set supported by claire
on fiddle and the occasional mandolin (that girl can play!!!!).  James took
us through some of his best loved songs and the crowd really got in to it,
tapping feet and singing along with a drink in their hand.  According to the
girls, the hit of the night was his skin tight red pants which attracted
quite a few comments and admiring glances.   Julie reckons..."he's
definitely got it"... and though us boys would never go that far we'd have
no hesitation saying he is really a hell of a nice bloke.

After his killer set, we then got up and thumped out some tunes to get
everyone up and dancing.  James joined us in the second set to sing along
with some Garth Brooks etc and then bring the house down when he sang "Way
Out West" and "This Road".   At one stage I swore the suspended dance floor
was not going to hold the weight of the crowd, it was flexing a good six
inches up and down as they danced around. He then cranked away on the harp
for a couple and then we kicked on through until stumps.

Many Thanks to Bundy who sponsored the night, The fantastic staff at the
Macquarie Inn, and above all... everyone who got into it and had a ball.

Richard

Double Crossed have been quite busy lately playing from Sydney to

Tamworth and lots of places in between. We just want to say a

genuine "thanks" to all those who continue to support us and drive

many, many miles to see us play.

Thanks also to those who have contributed live photos of the band

from various gigs. We are in the process of updating our web page

so you should be seeing your shots shortly on the "XX Pictures"

page of www.doublecrossed.com.au If you have others you want to

submit simply email them to us at info@doublecrossed.com.au

Whilst we are on this point I also want to clarify some amusing

enquiries from overly keen fans about the "XX Pictures" page on

the website and confirm these shots will be "Double Crossed (XX)

Pictures" not "toned down XXX (XX) pictures of Double Crossed".

WE WOULD NEVER PUT THAT SORT OF STUFF ON THE

WEB… but you can buy topless photos of Richard, Dave and Steve

directly from us at a gig near you (Kidding… only kidding).

We’ve had some great gigs lately, Julie was "Queen Bee" at the

Macquarie Arms and lead a "daisy chain" of future female country

stars around the park to the music. Local Tamworth Star Dan

Mureau got up with us at the Central to do a set or two. There’s

plenty happening so come out and see us play.

PS. We’ve also had a few people drop us a line to come and make

an appearance at a venue near them. Don’t be afraid to tell us

about your local pub, club, rodeo or other event that supports

country music and we’ll try our best to play there.
