IPSWICH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL
Ipswich
is preparing to welcome die-hard fans when Australia’s top country
music stars descend on the Ipswich Turf Club later this year.
Australian Country Music Festivals Pty Ltd joins forces with the
Ipswich Turf Club and River 94.9 FM to host the inaugural Ipswich
Country Music Festival on October 11, 2003.
The
12-hour extravaganza features the cream of Australia’s country music
talent. Troy Cassar-Daley, Sara Storer Laurel
Edwards and The Wolverines will headline, supported by Travis
Sinclair, Brooke McClymont, Shane Hogan, Neil Duddy, Pixie Jenkins,
Joelene Mandrakas, Chris Mullins, Backing band Bigfoot and other local
acts.
The
entertainment line up starts off on Saturday morning with the Bush
Poets’ Breakfast – then followed by the Ipswich Bush Poetry
Competition being run by well-known and loved Bush Poet Wally (The
Bear) Finch.
The
final judging of the Lismore Gold Talent Search also takes place on
the Saturday morning with entrants vying for a chance to sing at other
country music festivals as well as a host of other prizes. If you are

With a
crowd of over 5000 people expected to attend from the Brisbane, Gold
Coast and Toowoomba regions this festival promises to be a lot of fun
for the whole family.
Mayor of
Ipswich, John Nugent, said the Festival would generate significant
economic benefits for the city and help raise Ipswich’s profile as a
heritage centre.
“The
Ipswich Country Music Festival complements the city’s heritage image
and will be the highlight of our 2003 events calendar,” he said.
“In
addition to giving local residents an opportunity to enjoy some of
Australia’s top music talent, we appreciate that it will attract
visitors from Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba and surrounding
regions.”
Tickets
go on sale early July and will be available from the Ipswich Turf
Club, selected Sanity Music stores, the River 94.9, the Australian
Country Music Festivals website at

buy at the gate on the day.
