D’Lasselle Releases Second Single with GSL
Melbournian Jude D’Lasselle had a first hand look at Mildura
and its festival last week.
‘I’m really amazed at how well everything is set up for families. I
enjoyed it very much. It’s well organized and there’s lots of
opportunities to sing a few songs at the walkup venues’ Jude said.
The southern Indian immigrated to Australia in the 90’s with his wife
and children. His Anglo-Indian community shared a love of country
music and Jude was influenced to a greater degree by Merle Haggard
George Jones Lefty Frizzell Willie Nelson and Marty Robbins.
You’re The Hub In My Life’s Wheel is the second release from Jude’s EP
released earlier this year and recorded entirely at Swingin’ Door
studios in Sydney under the very capable hand of Stuie French. It’s a
fine track in the tradition of Merle Haggard and his previous GSL
release.
The first release Don’t Turn Your Back On the Working Man had
favourable reviews from country music publications, radio stations and
in live interviews.
It’s been a labour of love from the start for Jude. Recording in
Sydney and getting his head around the music industry was just the
start. As the year progressed though he has learnt a lot and along the
way picked up some recognition for his songwriting skills.
Jude found out in August that the song had placed in the TSA SEQ Top
10 Songwriters Awards.
Melbourne based reviewer
and feature writer for Capital News and Herald Sun Keith Glass says
‘four originals owe a lot to Hag……Jude is wearing his passion on his
sleeve and I’m not talking about the CD cover.’ CAP NEWS August 2006

EP & Single OUT NOW
Jude D'Lasselle's passion for country music especially Merle
Haggard grew into a fascination and consequently a reality when he met
Stuie French.
Originally from an Anglo-Indian community in South India he grew up
listening to legendary American Country Stars like Merle George Marty
Lefty and Willie.
Jude moved to Australia in 1992 with his wife and young family. He was
so inspired by Merle's music that when he met Stuie he knew it was
fate. His lyrics were transformed into songs and recordings at Swingin'
Door Studio where Stuie produced an EP of four of his songs and a
cover of an old favourite 'Little Ol' Wine Drinker Me.
Find Time For Love and Don't Turn Your Back Again On The Working Man
are already favourites on local radio playlists. A recently announced
finalist in the 2006 Professional Contemporary Country Top Ten TSA SE
Qld Song Comp Jude's You're The Hub In My Life's Wheel came in fourth
place in the June awards. It portrays love in an inspired ballad and
similarly in the beautiful Christmas Without Mama.
