In a recent edition of the Woolgoolga Times the band Mental as
Anything were described as “Aussie rock legends”. As flattering as
it was for the boys to be described as legends, the band were forced
to think about their image and persona and in the end came up with a
perhaps more appropriate comparison. More like a school rock
eisteddfod that just never stopped. The band has been performing
their music for nigh on twenty-seven years now and as is their
custom at this festive time of the year are preparing once again to
embark on a tour of Australia’s East Coast.
Mental As Anything revel in the coastal environment of a Summer in
Australia and so naturally love to play at those places that attract
holiday makers keen for a quick dose of sunburn and an even larger
dose of beer as well as the Mentals' brand of party music. The tour
this year (as in previous years) will take in locations as diverse
as Mallacoota, Yamba, and even the fabulous Twin Towns Services Club
in Tweed Heads.
It has been customary for Mental As Anything to give their annual
surfing sojourn a title, however this year; they were unable to come
up with an appropriate moniker. “Surf ’n Mirth” perhaps? Maybe it
could have been “Mentals Aussie legends”. In the end the band
decided to just go out on tour again without a tag, knowing full
well (and I do mean full) that the crowds will come once again to
sing, dance, party and perform ancient human mating rituals as the
boys pump out their brand of fun.
Ladies, gentlemen and others, we present the Mentals tour with no
name.
Print out and have
