Michael now has
secured the services of Paul Rabbit Robinson, the Epoch sponsored
violinist and is now teaching every Tuesday at our academy. He specializes in country and Irish fiddle and is
also writing a book on the secrets of electronic fiddle, look for the book
in about a week.
Any working musician, teacher or in the trade generally, and can prove it,
receive 10% discount off any recommended retail price in my shop, Michael
intends making this a country musicians, and musicians in general, place to shop
and record. $400 gets you a master CD with CD jewel cover with
artwork and printing, a two page bio and 4 or 5 tracks recorded CD, stamped with
a cover and a reasonable amount of mixing to your satisfaction. They then
burn off copies for $4.00 and register if required to by APRA for manufacturing license.
One to 100 copies can be printed, which means that if someone wants a bio
on CD, they can do this with approximately 6 copies for around
$420. For another $100 they can have a DVD COMPLETED (WITH
VIDEO INCLUDED). They now have over 200 students and have introduced
country guitar, slide guitar, pedal steel guitar and fiddle into the curriculum
with Paul Rabit Robinson as their fiddle teacher. Paul is on the
back of the EPOCH catalogue and EPOCH have now made them their only DEALER on
the North coast of NEW SOUTH WALES. Things are going great. If
you are interested phone 0266 814480 or 0266 819643.
EAST COAST ACADEMY IS THE ONLY
PLACE THAT YOU CAN PURCHASE THE COUNTRY MUSIC BULLETIN ON THE NORTH
COAST.

Paul Rabbit Robinson and I have been performing locally and have been booked
at the Ballina RSL for both Christmas day and Boxing day and will be doing a
ton of country stuff . Other venues include Bellowing Bulll Restaurant at
Wollongbar and Brunswick Hotel Evans Head RSL and other local venues and
will be featuring Zia Moreau with us on occasions. Zia has toured with people like Lisa Hunt and others and is fairly well
known on the country circuit. Anyway, that's all the news for now. Hope
all is well and I will catch you later

Broken Bow
My shop in Ballina is starting to make headway, slowly but decisively.
We are now Epoch's North Coast Agent and things are looking good in that
department. Had a surprise customer on Saturday when this
unsuspecting character rang to ask if I had a bow for his Epoch fiddle
as (someone trod on his bow after a performance the night before
and broke it), which I did and within the hour, none other
than Pixie himself was bowless, at least I could
accommodate him thank God, which was the first time I had met him and a
thorough gentleman is he. Oh well back to the grindstone. Best of luck with the rest of the year.

Good news is that my shop is going well and we now
have courses in country music songwriting, production music in country guitar
styles and keyboard skills and a few other odds and ends and I have built
the retail side of things up as well having sold gear to some country
greats such as Pixie Jenkins and others. I had the pleasure of playing
in a backup band being Saddle Tramp, for Owen Blundell at Nimbin and I have
recently recorded a number of people who have entered the talent quest at
the inaugral Lismore Country Festival and some of them have been great, top
notch stuff coming up there.

“FROM
A JACK TO A KING”
These
infamous words affect nearly every one of us that has ever had anything to do
with Country Music and none so pertinent than what has happened to older country
singer songwriter Michael Vincent. Six weeks ago heading to Tamworth with
possibly one of the best country style guitars ever made, with loads of
endorsement, enthusiasm and general love for country music to losing the lot
through irresponsible measures taken by some associates and then back once again
after purchasing the East Coast Academy of Music in Ballina and starting again
once more. 4 Years ago Michael was severely assaulted on the North Coast of New
South Wales and spent nearly two years in hospital with 4 months on life support
in a coma and six months in intensive care and 19 operations to purchasing of
the East Coast Music Academy in Ballina
The
Academy is a credited school of Music registered with DEET and 8 university
graduate teachers and his heading down that country road. Courses offered at the
Academy including most instrument tuition from grade 1 to University entrance
examinations. They have secured the
services of people like Paul Robinson, one of Country’s greatest fiddle
players through to people like Jivan Diwano, a well respected New York musical
director, who is currently residing in the area until his latest book is to be
published which will be available through outlets such as Allens and Dymocks.
Multi Media, computer music design, record production and software education
such as Cool Pro Edit, Sound Forge and others will also be amongst a number of
workshops being currently designed hopefully with the assistance of people such
as Chris Cook, if he has time, John Ashcroft Jnr, Paul Robinson, Epoch sponsored
violinist and an array of musical producers who actually reside on the North
Coast and have offered their services to the Academy
Our
aim is to attract the young budding artists and make them conversant with the
pitfalls and the positives of the Music business in General as well as
instrument tuition and hook into the country scene assisting with record
production and song writing skills attained by a number of long term country
oldies who have also offered their services to the Academy
It
also offers a full-blown recording studio, aptly named Mad Dog Recordings with
services up to and including D V D production etc.
All
the signs indicate that through good old yakka and come common sense, The
Academy should be able to expand quite rapidly and gain the respect that it
should deserve in a great but hard Industry.
