INAUGURAL MITTAGONG STAMPEDE A RESOUNDING SUCCESS

The inaugural Mittagong Country Music Stampede was held at Mittagong RSL on September 7 and 8, and was attended by approximately 800 patrons over the weekend.
Friday night kicked off with Darren Coggan warming up the early comers with his energetic guitar driven style.

Highlight of the Saturday was the Country Vocal Talent Quest, sponsored by Yamaha Music, with over $4000 in cash and prizes on offer. Fifty contestants registered for the event, and a 200 strong audience witnessed a high quality final which was adjudicated by Felicity Urquhart, and Rebecca McCarthy of Rum Promotions. The competition finished with a 20 minute performance by perennial crowd favourite Felicity, who was joined impromptu on stage by popular ABC radio host Nick Rheinberger.

Downstairs patrons were entertained throughout by the talents of Dianna Corcoran, Shane Flew and Mark Lucas and the Dead Setters.
The evening concluded with just under 400 packing the auditorium for the launch of Cowpoke's new album 'Big Red Ute' who were joined on stage by television personality Geoff Harvey.

Results of the Talent Quest were;
SENIORS - 1st Peter McWhirter, 2nd Chloe Graham, 3rd Cheyne Mastop
JUNIORS - 1st Makaylie Foodey, 2nd Jessie Fairweather, 3rd Claire Bishop
SUB-JUNIORS - 1st Blake Giles, 2nd Kiara Taylor, 3rd Courtney Draper

With a successful first event in the bag, the club is already planning for 2008.

Mittagong RSL Club is proud to announce the inaugural MITTAGONG COUNTRY MUSIC STAMPEDE and TALENT QUEST, to be held at the Club on Friday & Saturday September 7 & 8, 2007.

Commencing on the Friday evening, the event will feature performances by FELICITY URQUHART, DIANNA CORCORAN, DARREN COGGAN, SHANE FLEW, MARK LUCAS & the Dead Setters, and COWPOKE.

A COUNTRY VOCAL TALENT QUEST will be held on Saturday, September 8th as part of the weekend,
with Senior, Junior & Juvenile sections and total prizes to the value of over $4000.
The Quest Final will be judged by FELICITY URQUHART, and REBECCA McCARTHY of Rum Entertainment, and will feature a special performance by Felicity.

Mittagong is located in the picturesque Southern Highlands of NSW - a major tourist centre located an easy drive from Sydney, Wollongong, and Canberra.
