- Nellie’s Steppin’ Out

- Just a few weeks after filming her
latest clip Nellie Donovan is ecstatic about its release. And that
doesn’t include jumping out of a plane over Caloundra. Even local
WIN TV News turned up to see what all the fuss was about.
It’s been all good for the 2006 Qld Gold Medallion New Talent
Winner & Musicoz finalist since making the finals of the
prestigious 2007 Starmaker Quest and attending this year’s CMAA
Graduate College. This morning she received news that she’s a
finalist in the 2007 Gold Medallion Female Vocal Category.
Nellie’s had nothing but encouragement this year and after the
success of the Caboolture CM Outdoor Muster in May, she’s feeling
pretty happy about the great exposure here in Australia and
overseas with her single releases since distributing for
international airplay.
Here’s some of what’s happened lately ..

- Steppin Out
Stepping out of her comfort zone and overcoming her fear of
the stage,
Nellie Donovan is taking a chance to follow her dream.

The third single off her debut album of the same name, Steppin Out
was recently released to radio stations accross Australia on NfS
114.
Nellie co-wrote the song with (then) Brisbane based producer
Michael Flanders. "Working with Mike was amazing," says Nellie "he
knows how to bring out the best in a song". Michael also produced
the song and album and has since based himself in Nashville.
"Steppin Out is about stepping out of my comfort zone to take a
chance on myself, as I've really had to overcome a fear of being
on stage to follow my dream. I hope that this song inspires others
to also "step out" and live the life they dream because, as I'm
finding out, it is the most rewarding experience I have ever been
blessed with."
Nellie has certainly made some impressions since releasing her
debut album early in 2006, as both a Music Oz finalist last year
and a Toyota Star Maker finalist earlier this year. She humbly
states "I am very grateful for the incredible opportunities that
have come my way and look forward to the response to this song."
A video clip, being produced by Golden Guitar finalist Millhouse
Productions, will follow in July.

- Big Weekend for Nellie Donovan at Mud Bulls
& Music

-
-

- After a month of touring in North Queensland and a quick
trip to the Mildura festival Nellie Donovan’s back on the road and
just finished appearing at the Mud Bulls & Music in Landcruiser
National Park at Kilcoy in Southern Queensland this weekend.
The unique 4-day event blends traditional and contemporary
competition, a Bull Ride and 4x4 action events with music and lots
of fun. Nellie stepped on stage at the Club Country Bar this
morning at 10.00am singing most of the songs from her latest album
STEPPIN OUT released late last year.
The show started early at 8.00am with the Bush Poets Brekky. Also
appearing were Carter & Carter, Col Finley & Friends, Travis
Collins, The Distance and finalists from the Country Talent
Search.
It’s twelve months since the Michael Flanders produced first
single Sing Me An Angel and second release Cruising introduced
Nellie to the country music industry and she’s been on the circuit
ever since.
It’s obviously
only the start. Her music clip Cruising filmed in May by Ross
Wood just made the Top Ten Musicoz The Channel (V) Best Unsigned
Video Clip Award
- Some news from Nellie
Hi Everyone
Well I have been fortunate enough to have travelled from
one end of Australia to the other, saw some amazing country and
met some incredible people.
After performing at the Gympie Muster (main stage) which was an
absolute dream come true, I then made the long track up to Croydon
with fellow country music artists Adam Kilpatrick, Col Finley and
Jessica Belle, Croydon was great and the people will make you feel
right at home, well worth the trip and if you are going up that
way make sure you book into the pub, where you will find excellent
accommodation, meals and friendly atmosphere.
4 days in Croydon, 1 day at home and then it was off to Mildura
for the 10 day independent country music festival, and my first
experience.
What a fantastic festival, singing everyday with great backing
bands to huge crowds was incredible, meeting artists who I have
followed as a fan for years was one of the highlights for me. To
be amongst so many talented performers and learn from the best,
everyone is only too happy to help out.
Performing Cruising for the pre-awards party was amazing feeling
one that’s hard for me to explain. I stepped out on stage and
there in front of me sat all the country music stars, I felt as
though I was in a dream, truly magical, thank you so much to the
organizers for the opportunity and for making my Mildura one to
cherish.
To be apart of this event and surrounded by these beautiful and
giving people was an honour. Thank you to those of you who took
the time to share the tricks of the trade, and for your guidance
and friendship.
Back to reality, I’m now working on my 3rd single which should be
released in the not too near future. 2nd single Cruising is still
doing well, thanks to all the radio presenters who continue to
support me.
Also thanks to CMC Tim Daley for playing Cruising and 1st single
Sing Me An Angel, and to those of you who continue to request both
songs.
I’m performed at the Mud Bulls and Music, so if you’re looking for a great weekend full of
fantastic music, camp fires, and laughter, check it out at

Nellie Donovan
- Nellie Donovan wins NEW
TALENT 2006 QLD Gold Medallion Awards
- with second single from
album STEPPIN’ OUT
Hotly contested the new talent finalists this year were all
female.
Nellie Donovan’s win with Cruising stands strongly in the emerging
artists category. Still surprised at the nomination the demure
brunette who sports a captivating album produced by Michael
Flanders and a slick film clip by Ross Woods collected the 2006
New Talent Award at last night’s Queensland Gold Medallion Awards
in Toowoomba.
It was no mean feat against the other nominees. Selected by
registered radio presenters and high profile industry
personalities the finalist credentials obviously did not go
unnoticed. Tough competition from Luella Widt’s sophisticated
album and recent tour, Daisy May Wegner’s rousing Say It To My
Face; Emerald win and return from Camerata & Tamworth; the
beautiful 2006 ABBA winner Julie Perandes and Me and Moonlight
penned solely for her by songwriter Ernie Constance; and newcomer
Fiona Hayward’s Sunburnt Land.
‘Well you wouldn't believe it but I won last night’ Nellie said
this morning ‘It took me by surprise! I had only just finished
telling Steve that I wouldn't win but was really happy just to be
nominated.’
‘Didn't we get a shock and I was not prepared at all and forgot to
thank heaps of people.’
‘The win really did take me by surprise. I felt honoured to be
nominated in the first place but winning Best New Talent for
Cruising is the icing on the cake.”
‘Heart felt thankyou’s to all the radio presenters for their votes
WARP and their on-going support. Really appreciate it! Thank you
to NfS for getting our singles out to the radio stations and
creating feed back for us. A big thank you to Jason Kemp for
writing the song Cruising and letting me add it to my album. I'd
also like to take this opportunity to thank Producer Mike Flanders
and Engineer Jason Millhouse for their awesome work on my album.’
‘Thanks too to the Gold Medallion sponsors Porters Transport,
Tamworth Songwriters Assoc, LBS Music Group and NfS Publicity.’

Nellie
Donovan ‘CRUISING’ New Talent Finalist QLD Gold Medallion Awards

Excitement was an
understatement and anything but ‘Cruising’ for Nellie Donovan when she
read the media release and found her name in the New Talent Category.
The finalist berth was somewhat of a shock when she opened an email
forwarded by a friend and discovered its contents late on Wednesday
night when the finalists were announced.
‘So excited….can't believe it .. can't even write ..Thank you, you
just made my day, night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’ she said overwhelmed.
It took a day or two for the news to settle and to look at next
month’s itinerary. Attending the awards evening in Toowoomba on Friday
August 4 is a preliminary to a hectic two months touring in September
and October.
‘I’m so excited to be one of the finalists in the Queensland Gold
Medallion Awards for new artist and feel extremely honoured to one of
the chosen few’ Nellie responded as she finalised tour dates.
Nellie will join Col Finley and Jessica Belle in Sawtell on September
7 to tour northern New South Wales and Queensland. The tour ends in
Cairns North Queensland on September 19 after three days at the
Croydon Festival. The trio then head south to Victoria where all three
will appear at the Mildura Country Music Festival from September 22 to
October 1.
‘Cruising’ on Nfs 104 April compilation is the second single from
Nellie Donovan’s debut album ‘Steppin’ Out’ released at Tamworth in
January this year. Her first single the inspirational ‘Sing Me An
Angel’ was released to radio earlier in August 2005 on NFS 99.
Produced by industry pro Michael Flanders the album is a collection of
work by established writers Chaise Flanders Col Finley and Jason Kemp
and Nellie. The result is a collection of superbly crafted songs with
an edgy modern country texture.
