- DENAHY CEMENTS HIT

- 2006 Golden Guitar finalist & ACMEC recording artist PETER
DENAHY is all smiles with his latest single PEPPERCORN TREE currently
spending two weeks at #4 of the Top 30 Country Tracks airplay chart.
Taken from Peter’s self-titled album, his radio success has followed
in the footsteps of his previous Top 5 hit WIND THROUGH THE BRIGALOW.
2006 has been an award-winning year for Peter, with his second single
PEPPERCORN TREE being named the Victorian & National Country Music
Awards Bush Ballad Of The Year. The track was also recognised as a
finalist for Heritage Track Of The Year at the CMAA Country Music
Awards Of Australia and THE KITCHEN GIRL for Instrumental Of The Year.
He’ll soon be hitting the road touring NSW and Queensland with Anne
Kirkpatrick, the daughter of legendary Slim Dusty.
It is fitting that Peter is touring with Anne, as he was part of the
Travelling Country Band that travelled with Slim and testament to
Pete’s versatility, he wrote one of the songs featured on Slim’s 100th
album “Looking Forward, Looking Back” titled ‘The Bloke Who Serves The
Beer’- Pete’s version has been included on his latest album.
With underlying tones in his songs of strong rural themes, distinctly
Australian – make sure you have a chance to enjoy the music and
stories from Peter Denahy when he hits your town.

- PETER DENAHY AGAIN HITS AIRPLAY CHARTS
Peter's current single PEPPERCORN TREE is bearing him fruit -
gaining him #27 position on this weeks Top 30 Country Tracks chart
The song is about an old friend of Pete's, Jack Bell. Jack & his Dad
used to do a lot of blacksmithing, and as a young man Jack rode
countless buckjumpers in his old poley saddle.
"When I arrive, he'll roll a smoke and fetch a drink of tea,
And tell a tale as he plaits a whip in the shade of the peppercorn
tree"

ACMEC
and RUM Entertainment congratulate Peter Denahy on
two Golden Guitar Nominations
-
- Peppercorn Tree - Heritage
Song of the Year
The Kitchen Girl - Instrumental of the Year
The finalists were announced yesterday
in Sydney, with Peter receiving two nominations in the Country Music
Association of Australia's Golden Guitar Awards. The awards will be
held at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre, 28 January 2006
during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Peter's new single & Golden Guitar nominated track Peppercorn Tree is
being released to radio this month on ACMEC Records 'Summer Sampler'
distributed through NFS.
You often hear the term "paid your dues", and Peter Denahy has done
just that with the best in the business. He toured with Slim and
became a member of the Travelling Country Band and is currently
touring with Sara Storer, enjoying many gigs with Troy Cassar-Daley
and Paul Kelly. All this along with his own performances, has made
Pete no stranger to the road.
When he's not touring, Pete enjoys relaxing with his mates. His single
Peppercorn Tree, is a great story about one of those times. Pete
writes with insight of the characters that make Australia so colourful
and the ordinary pastimes of yesterday that are extraordinary links to
our today.
Not just a great song, Peppercorn Tree preserves the traditions of the
‘Australian Ballad’ in a contemporary fashion that will see writers
like Peter Denahy among the contributors when it comes to songs that
take Australians and their tales into the next generation.

Radio across Australia have welcomed Peter’s new album and have shown

This collection of songs shows a mature interpretation, a source of

trends threaten to take country music away from its roots.
"...beneath the comedy façade is a truly serious songwriter and
musician....The album really does show the many sides of Peter Denahy,
and his touring will give people the opportunity to share his unique
talents ....It is a serious business, and Peter Denahy is a seriously
