Thursday 22nd July 2004

Hello everybody,
Now firstly before I go any further I would just like to say a huge sorry that it has been so long since I have been in touch. It has been a very busy couple of months though. Hee hee. Hope you can forgive me.

I have been everywhere in this past month. I kicked off June with a couple of shows in Qld one being a fundraiser for Hope Farm in Nanango and then Gatton’s Bucks and Bands Concert on the 6th, where I sang a couple of songs with Luke O’Shea and The Medicine Wheel.

Then it was off on a plane to go sing with 2004 College Graduate and best friend Kristy Cox at the Barmera Country Music Festival in SA. Barmera was a fantastic festival and I must say a huge thanks to Dot McDonnell for putting on such an awesome show.

From SA it was a quick trip to Melbourne stopping in on the way before I flew home to complete a short tour with Billy Bridge. We started our tour way way out west ha ha and saw some interesting sights that is for sure even stopping to let a family of Wild Boars cross the road. Hee hee. The18th found us singing to some fine Dandies in Dirranbandi. Next morning kicking off on an early start for a 600km trip to Quilpie catching up with a young crowd of Victorians who were up for the cotton picking season and boy could they party! Charleville was the next stop for the start of our return to home trip. We caught up for a radio interview with Daryl Kirkup of 4RR FM at 7am. Mm yes it was an icy cold morning with a temperature of minus 1.5 degrees (not sure if the .5 made any difference ha ha). We arrived back in Gatton on the 21st and rest for a couple of days catching up with some mates. Brightview Tavern was packed for a Thursday night with some rowdy Billy Bridge fans ha ha, not mentioning any names (Sandy & Clan)

It was nice to get back to the Dag Hotel 25th to see everyone, and to have the Wild Boarz playing again.
26th and 27th completed the last leg of the Billy Bridge tour with the Club Hotel Waterford and the Glass House Mountains.

I have only just returned from Tamworth from the Camerata Junior College! What can I say it was a fantastic experience, meeting and working with the best in the industry, Beccy Cole, Tamara Stewart, Roger Corbett, Dobe Newton, Brad Bergen, Donella Plane, Brett Dallas Michel Rose, Felicity, Glen Hannah, Trevor Warner, Doug Gallagher and Ian Lees. What a strong force to be working with. I would also just like to say a huge thanks to Joan Douglas, Cheryl Byrnes and Greg Williams for all their hard work in running such an event with so much opportunity for the younger up and coming Country Artists. I would also like to say a huge thanks to all the sponsors who supported us up and coming country artists cause without your support it wouldn’t have been possible. Thanks to our major sponsors Fender, 2TM, Capital News, Tamworth Towers Motor Inn, CMAA, The Northern Daily Leader, Prime, Southgate Inn, The Family Hotel, The Pub, and Coca Cola. Huge thanks to Rum Entertainment, Louise Matthews Jewellers, Nectar Body Care, Tourism Tamworth and CMAA for all your lovely gifts. But I must say the biggest thanks of all to my sponsor who made it possible for me to be apart of such a fantastic event, Paul Dewar of Crediflex thanks mate, love ya.

Roger Corbett held songwriting workshops at Camerata which has given me some new ideas and styles to use when writing. Thanks Rog.

Whilst in Tamworth I also caught up with the BUSHFAERY, and we did an interview for her new pilot Tv Show that should be on later this year. She showed me a few of her famous moves and I shared a few of mine ha ha. It was a fun experience so keep your eye out for the Bushfaery she might be coming your way soon.

On the 11th I was support act for Tom Curtain and Golden Guitar Nominees the Davidson Brothers at Petrie. Was an awesome show great guys to work with.

I have a busy few months coming up. Off on tour with Billy Bridge and Hillbilly Heat starting in Melbourne working our way to the Gympie National Muster. The new album from Hillbilly Heat will be available from August 6th so make sure you grab a copy!!

Well until the next time please take care of yourself and your loved ones.
I look forward to catching up with everyone soon.

Best Wishes

Camerata
Camerata was full of 21 talented young entertainers all on the rise and I would like to
wish them all the best in the future you all know who you are.
Whilst at Camerata I met and worked with the best in the industry. With the likes of
Roger Corbett from the Bushwackers tutoring songwriting, and having top

careers triumphs and misfortunes.
Opportunities never ran out and we were lucky enough to work with some of the most
in demand musicians in the industry, Glen Hannah, Michel Rose, Trevor Warner,
Ian Lees and Doug Trevor. What a strong force to be working with.
I would just like to say a huge thanks to Joan Douglas, Cheryl Byrnes and Greg

!!!!!! WHAT A MONTH!!!!!!

What a month it was indeed. It all started when I flew out of Brisbane with Kerry Kennedy and Double Barrel (Mick, Nick & Billy). It was a nice rush onto the plane but we got there. We arrived in Thredbo that afternoon and met up with the other guys who drove the bus down little Irishman Paddy and Super soundman Braids. We were looked after so well at Thredbo and I felt like a real life star ha ha! It was fantastic. Paddy and I sang as solo artists, Brenda Lee Heathcote & Matt Scullion were a stunning duo and Kerry Kennedy and Double Barrel of course are the Kick Arse Country Band. I shared my 17th Birthday with everyone at Thredbo on the 6th and they made my day feel so special. The Thredbo experience was one that I know I will never forget, I didn’t want to leave I was just having too much fun.

But Monday came around and we had to pack up and head to Camberra to fly out. The guys flew out to Brisbane and I flew to Melbourne, which was my home for 2 weeks. Whilst in Melbourne I sang at the Southern Star Saloon with Multi-award winning Billy Bridge and the Qld based BIG MAN of Country Music. It was a blast of a night. I was able to do some songwriting while I was away, Adam, Billy and I on the way back from having a radio interview with Else and Col Bernard of Our Kinda Country 99.3FM we decided that we would have a crack at writing a song. I sat in the back with guitar in my hand and we wrote. We called it “My Girlfriend is Like a Service Station” just from the name I know you are wondering what the? It is a comedy country song that is worth keeping your ears open for. More than likely you will hear it at any of The BIG MAN’S shows. Billy and I also wrote a Male/Female duet called “Love sees Us Though”, which is another song that I can’t wait to share with everyone.

But Melbourne didn’t end there, Bill invited me to sing at the Sunbury Fair and Euroa Rodeo with him and Hillbilly Heat on the 20th.

I returned home on the 23rd and it has been non-stop since I have returned. On the Wednesday I started with the Toowoomba Heritage show where I sang 3 songs with the MADD Productions Legends and Icons Show. The show went from the Thursday – Saturday. On Friday night straight after the show I had a gig at the Birghtview Tavern, and then Saturday night once again straight after the show I had a private party in Gatton. I started my new job at the Birghtview Tavern yesterday as Bar staff, so now I have some part time work that is flexible and won’t interfere with my music.

I performed at the Ipswich Festival on the 1st of April. It was a small competition on the Thursday night. Claye Middleton won, and Corinne Wittman won the scholarship to Camerata in July. Congratulations guys!

On Friday the 2nd I performed at the Logan Sports Club, as apart of a Showcase. It was a great night with some fantastic artists, Michael O’Rourke, Rikki Chaplin, Ian Muir, Joelene Mandrakes, Pam Clarke, Linda Street, Darn Kerwin and Callum Gleeson.

I will be heading back to Melbourne on the 14h of April to attend Hamish Davidson’s 21st Birthday Party. Whilst down there I will be singing with Billy Bridge and Hillbilly Heat at the Ringwood R.S.L club. I also plan to do some more songwriting and promotion.

23rd February 2004
Hello again everybody,
Gee wizz time is flying it feels like only yesterday that I wrote the last newsletter. This month has been full of great experiences. On the 13-15th of Feb I was at the Toowoomba Country Music Roundup, which was fantastic, I was a people’s choice entertainer from last years festival on the Friday night, and then I was a special artist on Saturday night in between Troy Cassar-Daley and Melinda Schneider. It was a very heart racing experience that’s for sure, but it is definitely one that I could handle doing every day. Ha ha couldn’t we all. Whilst at the Roundup I was also offered to go on a trip to Thredbo with Kerry Kennedy and Double Barrel on the 5th-7th of March, so that was a surprise and I just can’t wait. Straight after my time with Kerry and the guys I will be flying to Melbourne for some shows with Golden Guitar Nominee Billy Bridge, and the Big Man of Country Music Adam Kilpatrick. I won’t be back in Sunny Qld until the 23rd of March.

On the 20th I had a show at D’Aguilar Hotel with the Boarz! It was a great night, a very HOT night, I had beads of sweat dripping off my nose! Ha ha! Extremely hot, but this did not stop the dancers for strutting their stuff on the floor.

I spent Saturday the 21st in the Channel 9 Station at Mt Cootha, with Jay Collie of Jonah’s Road who is the musical director for a new Children’s TV Show on Channel 9 that will be going to air on the 11th of April called “New McDonalds Farm”. It was great to watch and learn how it was all done.

The 28th found me playing at the Lowood Tavern with my invited guest and great mate, Mick Lindsay from Toowoomba.
This will be the last that time you will hear from me now until I fly away for a month. So until next time please keep safe, and god bless.
All the Best

Up and Coming Events:

Happy New Year Everybody! I can’t believe that it is 2004 already, the past year has just flown by. I have just returned from another great Tamworth Country Music Festival, though this year we had all kinds of weather, hot steamy days right through to rainy wet days then to torrential rain and floods, we had the works. This didn’t put a damper on my festival mind you I am just so glad that I wasn’t camping ha ha.

My aim again this year was to get my face and name out there as much as a possible, which meant jumping at any opportunities that came my way. The festival started on Sunday the 11th for me with my first spot at the Cadillac Ranch stage at Riverside. Although it was drizzling rain, the people that were there enjoyed the show. I was lucky enough to have been invited to sing with Golden Guitar Nominee Billy Bridge and his band Hillbilly Heat that was a great experience. Later on in the week I had a guest spot with the Indian Cowboy Bobby Cash.

The water made Tamworth all the more interesting and for all those people who may have seen my article in the Daily Telegraph on Saturday 17th January, ha ha it was a set up. A lot of people that I have talked to say “oh that would be right Bec is out there playing in the rain and puddles that wouldn’t surprise me”. But this time I really wasn’t the guys from the paper came around and said “ok we want you to carry a guitar case over your head like an umbrella and jump in that puddle like my mum eats vita wheats” ha ha. It was a great fun and I ended up on my backside in the mud!

My other shows at Tamworth included the Coca-Cola Stage at Hands of Fame Park, Buttercup Open House and a stage in front of the Tudor Hotel.
A major highlight of the festival was attending the 32nd Golden Guitar Awards with Hamish Davidson of the Instrumental Nominees the Davidson Brothers. It was an unforgettable experience mingling at the after party with some new and old friends.

I attended a Music Business Course at the Musicians Headquarters, which was extremely helpful.

Just before I finish up I must say a few quick thank you's to - Craig Byrne’s, Jim Goodlet, Buttercup Open House, Tyson Gleeson, Pat Maloney, MusicOz Crew, Bobby Cash, Adam Kilpatrick, Billy Bridge and Hillbilly Heat, for all your help and support throughout the Tamworth Festival.
Until next time please take care, and remember-

“ Life mirrors your every thought, when you think positive thoughts your life will bring to you only good experiences”.
All the best
