STEVE EALES A COWBOY AND THE
BLUES
There’s no cowboy blues for hot new
solo artist Steve Eales.
His debut album The Battler is One Stop Entertainment’s Album of
the Month and the latest single When A Cowboy Gets The Blues is
sitting nicely at 24 in this week’s Country Tracks Top 30.
Moving up three places in its third week in Australia's leading
weekly Country Music singles chart, with radio airplay across
the country the single is the second release for the solo artist
who’s most recognised as the frontman of one of Australia’s most
successful independent bands Sovereign.
Steve’s proving its not just looks that make the man and his
music with his raring to go live and persuasively emotive
performances. It’s not hard either to see why females amass in
audiences keen to see what he delivers. The advance single Girls
on Horses gave all that and more capturing that typical mix of
country rodeo Steve’s known for.
His tall and silent traits offstage mask smouldering deliveries
of beautiful ballads that are fast becoming signature material.
Who knows it could even have rubbed off from music master Ross
Wilson who also produced Girls On Horses and who Steve
attributes ‘a wealthy resource of experience and inspiration.’
It’s no secret either that Steve Eales enjoys his music with a
slight touch of colloquial bias. You can hear it every time he
sings any one of the 10 original tracks on The Battler.
Collecting honours like the 2004 Victorian and National Country
Music Awards Male Vocalist of the Year and hitting the charts
with Tooraweenah Cowgirl, It’s My Town and Stomp, Steve and
Sovereign earned a total of nine awards for their last album.
Impressive stuff for any singer|songwriter, Steve wrote nine of
the twelve tracks.
Not waiting for the grass to grow under his feet, Steve’s
covering much of the highway from Victorian to Queensland. He’s
a frequent visitor to the Sunshine State recently filming at
Aussie World and working with Keri McInerney and Michael
O’Rourke to record a collaborative country version of the
Steelers Wheel hit Stuck In the Middle With You.
Both tracks are sharing close quarters on the charts this week
with bullets at 21 and 24.
Steve’s in Tamworth tomorrow night playing at the Services Club
with his solo show The Battler. If you just happen to be around
here’s your chance to see one of the hottest pre-festival acts
for 2008.

- Queensland multi award winning country artist Keri
McInerney is back with a fun toe-tapping radio single.
The enterprising singer and songwriter has teamed up with industry
mates Golden Guitar Finalists Steve Eales former lead singer of
Sovereign and Michael O’Rourke to record a collaborative version
of the hit single ‘Stuck In The Middle With You’ written by Gerry
Rafferty and Joe Egan.

- Girls on horses
“Girls on Horses” is the scorching debut solo single from
one of Australia’s finest
and most rewarded vocalists, Steve Eales.
- Affectionately known in country music
circles as Ealesy - he is best known as the
weather beaten honey voice of the vocal trio, Sovereign. “Girls on
Horses” sees Ealesy take a step in a new direction for his solo
career combining country, rock & hip hop elements made famous by
US superstars, Big & Rich with Australian stories and values.
Produced by the legendary Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool/Mondo Rock), and
engineered
by Reggie Bowman (Southern Sons); “Girls on Horses” is a rockin’
tale of blokes
checkin’ out the female riders at the local rodeo.
“There’s a definite poetry in motion thing going on when a well
matched girl and her horse race by. Barrel racing has always been
a favorite of mine at the rodeos, they’re
so aggressive and graceful all at the same time”, says Ealesy.
“There was an incident
at a rodeo a few years back, where some mates and I were chased
off the arena rail
by an over zealous rodeo clown, we knew better of course but this
guy was so serious
we couldn’t help but laugh. I hope this track epitomizes the fun
and spirit of our
rodeo girls and the whole rodeo scene.”
A video clip for “Girls on Horses” which features a killer dance
remix of the song has already been screened on the popular new
television program, “Cruisin’ The Country”
and it’s expected to hit other country video shows in the coming
weeks.
Ealesy is currently finalizing tracks for his solo album which is
due mid next year.
Steve Eales is the new face and sound of Australian country rock
for 2007!
“Girls on Horses – what a great song! This is a genre testing,
breakthrough rockin’ country track with a killer chorus –
and belted out in style by our new star, Steve Eales!”
