- March 2007
Hi there Strangers,
Sorry it’s been so long between newsletters, but you know how it
is... life always seems to get in the way!
I hope that this finds you all well and that the past few months
have been kind to you... for Maya and me it has been an
interesting time with concerts, fairs and horses.
I will be starting up the Music Nights again soon so watch this
space, and to get the momentum going we are holding a very special
event on our property over the Easter Weekend, Saturday 7th &
Sunday 8th April... it’s called
“The Spirit of the Forest”
We are very lucky to be living where we live, just down the road
from the “Grandis” (the tallest tree in NSW) and surrounded on 3
sides by National Park.
We share Forest Glen with our beautiful Arabian horses, Jericho,
the stallion his many mares and foals, a couple of donkeys, two
whippets, chooks, a rather fat goat and of course cattle.
It’s a wonderful setting for music and fun and that’s what we aim
to have on the weekend.
It’s FREE so come and enjoy it!
We are holding this to aid two very special people raise awareness
for something that affects us all, the preservation of the lungs
of this world... the Rainforests.
Prince Mama Kiama (yes a real prince) aka Datu Efren Mandipensa
and his wife Lisa Mandipensa were sent by the Elders of the
Higaonon Tribe, to create worldwide awareness of the plight of the
rainforest and its importance to our survival as a planet.
The last remaining virgin rainforest in the Philippines could
vanish in the next ten years if illegal logging and mining
continues to strip the land. If this were to occur his 350, 000
strong Higaonon people and all the rainforest animals will be in
danger of extinction. They depend on the forest for their
supermarket, hospital, home and church. Amongst other species the
Monkey Eating Eagle, the largest eagle in the world, is also
facing extinction as the forest diminishes.
Datu is also one of the finest singer songwriters that I have met
in my life, (and believe me I’ve met and played with the best) he
writes with a sincerity and passion rarely heard...he is
inspirational! We are in the process of recording a CD together
and will be performing concerts in the near future.
Datu will be singing his wonderful songs as well as performing
some of his tribal dances and stories.
Also there will be Belly Dancing, Lectures on all sorts of
interesting stuff, Psychic readings, Market Stalls; I’ll be giving
a demonstration on Horse Communication (Whispering) and strumming
on the old banjo( not at the same time of course!).
Any donations will go to the “One World, One Tribe and One Family”
project to help save the Mindanao Rainforest
I’ve included a poster for you spread the word, if you want to
perform on the weekend that would be great or if you have any
questions about the weekend please give me or Maya an ring on 02
4997 4597 or 0414 903 237.

Hi there again!
Our music nights at the Bulahdelah Bowling Club are gaining
momentum and we had a great night in August with a surprises for
all… from great poetry, singing and some experimental electric
guitar music (John again …always original). There are so many
talented artists in this area… must be something in the water!!
The next music night is next week:
Bulahdelah Bowling Club @ 7:00pm
Wednesday 13th September
*************
September is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month, new
single “Looks Like I’m a Banjo Picker Now!” is being released, so
I’ll be busy promoting that and the album “Favourable Winds”.
Next Saturday 9th September I’ll be performing at Acito’s Café in
Hawks Nest as part of the “Walk on the Wildside” weekend, it will
be an “up close and personal” concert as it is only a small venue,
those of you who have been there for the Music Nights they have on
Thursdays will know that the food is superb, the price for a
dinner and the show is $50.00 it all starts at 7:00, for bookings
phone Acito’s 02 4997 0363.
**************
The REALLY GOOD News is that my old friends Normie Rowe and Peter
Dean are returning to the Great Lakes and will be performing with
me on
Saturday 30th September at Old Bar Oval on the Main Stage
This concert will be part of the wonderful festivities that are
being held at the OLD BAR BEACH FESTIVAL over the long weekend.
Normie is possibly the greatest Australian Rock Legend of our time
and Peter is one of the best comedians and musical wits around,
I’m really looking forward to working with both of these guys
again.
It will be a family show at the bargain price of $15.00 for adult
and kids under 14 (if accompanied by an adult) FREE.
The show starts at 7:00 tickets can be obtained at
Bass’n Blues Taree 02 6551 5067 and Old Bar Cellars 02 6553 7328
This will be a GREAT FAMILY SHOW at an affordable price so don’t
miss this one!!
So there’s lots of things happening, have a good month and hope to
see you at one of them.
Yours in Harmony
Trevor

Bulahdelah Music Night Newsletter
- August
2006

- Peter Dean
-
- We had a great time
with Peter Dean he is truly a world class act musically and
comically, it is great to have an entertainer of this talent and
professionalism come to Bulahdelah, but, I must admit it was
disappointing we didn’t get a very big turnout.
I really want to continue bringing professional acts every few
months to our music nights and most of them come knowing that they
will only cover travel expenses, but they need an audience to
appreciate them!
Peter and I performed our “Ballads and Balderdash” show at
Tuncurry on the following Sunday and it was a ripper of a night he
is a great guy to work with and always has the crowd and myself in
stitches.
The Bowling Club is a great venue for music with really warm
acoustics; we are very lucky to have such a good room in town.
The next Music Night will be held on Wednesday 9th August from
7:00pm.
And it’s FREE.
It’s an open microphone night so bring your instruments and have a
bash.
A couple of folks have said they’d like to bring their poems….
Please do.
Those of you who were there last month will remember Peter
Kershaw’s humorous verse about “The Meeting”… wonderful stuff!

Dear All,
The first night at our new venue was a resounding success; the
acoustics at the Bulahdelah Bowling Club are wonderful.
John again surprised and delighted us with his new “What Is That
Tune?” quiz game, and flutes, mandolins, accordions, guitars… even
an Ocarina (I hope that’s correct spelling, Shimona) were
presented by our merry group of performers to give our music night
that unique flavour. I’d like to mention the first time
performance of Leteisha who out sang Kasey Chambers… I hope we see
a lot more of this talented young lady.
The next night will be:
Wednesday 12th July starting at 7:00 at
THE BULAHDELAH BOWLING CLUB.
It’s with great pleasure to announce that one of the funniest
comedians I have ever known is coming to town to perform for us:-
The King of Cockney Comics Peter Dean
Peter Dean is renowned for his great comedy, sound effects, and
vocal impressions and of course is “The Man” when it comes to
blues harp!
He has won 14 Mo Award nominations and he is ranked as one of the
finest and funniest comedians in Australia today.
He has worked Australia’s largest venues, traveled the world
wowing audiences and performed with some of the world’s finest
entertainers, Tom Jones, Joe Cocker, Roy Orbison, The Village
People, Cilla Black, and Ray Charles, to name but a few, his
impressions of some of these stars will leave you rocking in the
aisles and believing you’re hearing the real thing!.
With a successful career on British T.V. and the London stage
behind him he took the plunge and came to Australia, since then
local audiences have loved his strong British warmth and wicked
wit.
“Farewell the Court Jesters.... Hail the King!”
“Don’t let this man out of the cage, he’s dangerously funny!”
“The original Cockney Comic!”
“Wow… what a voice! More Tom Jones than Tom Jones!”
“I haven’t laughed so much in ages”
There will be a door charge on this show of $15 (with kids under
14 and performers free) and I guarantee that you will have the
most entertaining night you’ve had in ages.
I’ve known Peter for many years and I never miss his show … it’s
unpredictable, very funny and he is a really talented musician, he
played on my new CD “Favourable Winds”
THE SHOW IS RATED PG
*****************************
NOTE TO PERFORMERS:-
If you want to perform on this night please give me a ring on 02
4997 4597 or 0414 903 237 by Monday 10th, so that I can organise
the running order for the night.
****************************
Last Weekend (24th & 25th June) Maya and I held the second annual
“MYSTICS, MUSIC & MASSAGE” Festival at “The Little Darlings Tea
House” at Failford, it was a resounding success, I’d really like
to thank Desert Jewels (Belly Dancers),Unreal Neil, Peter Kershaw
and Brett and Astrid for coming and playing in the sunshine.
We will be holding another one soon possibly even closer to home
as it has something for every one …..Mysticism for the mind, Music
for the ears and Massage for the body.
***************
Over the next few months we will have some exciting acts coming
through town and performing for us at our music nights including
one of the greatest multi instrumentalists in the world ANDREW
CLERMONT (who at the moment is on an extensive tour of Europe and
Africa)
So please support these nights and bring your friends.
Yours in Harmony

June 2006
Hi there,
Another month passes and we’re nearly half way through 2006…time
flies.
I had a very enjoyable tour with 6,000 kms covered criss crossing
Victoria and New South Wales, from Tottenham to Wonthaggi, Ivanhoe
to Wangaratta and towns along the Murrey, starting in Albury and
finishing in Wagga Wagga.
Great audiences all round and a good travelling companion, Colin
Perkins, who is one half of “Wallis and Matilda” of “Clancy of the
Overflow” fame.
He will be performing for us in the future, but more of that
later.
But I suppose the big news this month is that there is a change of
venue,
The next night will be at:
The Bulahdelah Bowling Club
7:00pm Wednesday 14th June
It’s a wonderful auditorium with great stage and close to town and
I know that our nights will go from strength to strength with
internationally acclaimed acts coming to share their talents with
us, for example in July one of Australia’s top comedians, Peter
Dean, will be giving us his slant on life and music.
This month we will be featuring some of my favourite acts… our
local musicians. It’s great to be associated with such talent and
we have all the “C’s” covered Comedy, Classics, Country,
Contemporary (and Folk!)
Don’t forget it’s all happening at The Bowling Club!
See you there,
Trevor Knight

- Trevor Knight is a singer,
storyteller and songwriter. He builds his repertoire of contemporary,
country and folk songs from all around the world.
- His show, titled “Spirit of
the Eagle”, reflects the soul of John Denver, and brings to
audiences Trevor’s own
special and personal interpretation of John’s music and the story of
his complex life, through the turbulent sixties and on through the
three decades of his career.
Trevor shared the generation,
the mood, and the spirit of those times and his special connection
with John is evident.
- Trevor’s own career includes
eight years as a guest star on Ray Martin’s Midday Show, two Golden
Guitar awards for the song “The Days of Old Khancoben” and
the album with Smoky Dawson “High Country” and many
successful years of cruising with
P&O in the South Pacific.
“Spirit of the Eagle”is not
a tribute and not an impersonation, Trevor shows us the romance,
adventure and fun that was John Denver and as we listen to the stories
and sing along with the songs, we realize that we were fans all along.
